After a battle with cancer, Wilma Earlene Justus died peacefully on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at the age of 86.
She is survived by her son, Leonard (Len) Justus, granddaughter Tara Hayes, and great grandson Jaxson Hayes. Her sister’s Betty Campbell and Jo Johnson and brother Richard Cavett. Earlene was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Justus, her parents William Earl & Ruby Faye (Wright) Cavett, her sister’s Dianna Newman and Wanda Waters. Her brother’s Ronald (Ronnie) Cavett, Robert (Bob) Cavett, and Asa (Ace) Dale Cavett.
Earlene was born on December 24, 1930 in Stillwater, Oklahoma as the second oldest of nine children. She graduated from Pawnee High School in 1948. She went to work for Pawnee Municipal Hospital as a nurse’s aide. She married Leonard D. Justus on January 20, 1954 in Cushing, Oklahoma. They had one child, a son, Leonard (Len) Earl Justus born on September 25, 1955 in Pawnee, Oklahoma.
Earlene completed a 184 hour course at Stillwater Medical Center passing the State Board for Nursing. She started working as a nurse for Dr. Hansel Ratliff’s Family Practice in 1963 until the office closed in 1991. She later went back to work for Pawnee Municipal Hospital as a LPN and a Home Health nurse until retiring.
Earlene had a passion for helping people and was dearly loved by her patients. She was a member of The First Christian Church of Pawnee. She liked to fish and spend time outdoors working in her flower beds and garden. She enjoyed going to Bingo, playing Pitch at the card parties, and shuffleboard. She loved spending time with all of her family, especially her granddaughter Tara and great grandson Jaxson, the LIGHT of her LIFE.

Memorial Services will be held Thursday 11:00 A.M. at the First Christian Church in Pawnee with Rev. Robert Smith officiating. Services were entrusted to the Poteet Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Friends can leave a memory for the family at www.poteetfuneralhome.com
