As a young student, Willis attended Pawnee Indian Boarding School, (also known as Gravy U.) and then enlisted into the Navy during WWII. He was very proud of his time he spent in the Navy and initially wanted to be on a submarine but because of his 6'1 height he ended up being a signal man on the ships. He spent most of his time in the South Pacific but also went to many ports during the war. He liked to carry candy with him to give to the children at each of the ports he visited. A Farmer/Rancher by trade, he dedicated his life towards his family. He loved his wife, Juanita (Hurd) Robedeaux very much and he married his "Sweetheart" on May 3rd, 1943. Soon after they adopted their first child Jimmy Glenn Robedeaux and then 13 years later had Jessica Jill Robedeaux. Willis spent many years raising his children and later his grandchildren. He supported any activities they had interest in. This included racing cars, playing in a band, showing sheep and watching grandchildren play sports and attend college. He had the ability to make anyone feel at home and had many friends that he cherished and welcomed into his home. Willis loved his farm and the house that he and Juanita built together. He was a proud member of Otoe Missouria tribe and in the 1980's served on the tribal council. This lead him to be a member of the Intertribal Agriculture Council (IAC) which he was very proud of and talked at many colleges about soil. Willis was a democrat and was very adamant about voting. Willis went to his Eternal Home on Friday, September 2nd, 2016. Willis was 90 years old. He will be missed by his family for his devotion, his strength and quick wit and his desire to see everyone do their best. His words of encouragement are very well remembered by all he met and encouraged a good work ethic in all his children and grandchildren.
