William Boyd Coons began his life journey in Ponca City, OK. April 2, 1956. His earthly existence was cut short by a fall and head trauma, which was covid-related. He passed away August 19th in Pass Christian, MS. Bill attended Ponca City schools, graduated in 1974 as a National Merit Presidential Scholar. He received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from his beloved alma mater, Oklahoma State University. Bill remained an avid Cowboy fan his entire life, having purchased this year's season tickets back in the spring.

He started his career with Texaco in 1978 in Tulsa, OK. Early on, he met his wife Paulette at his & her best friends' wedding in June 1982. They married the following year in Homestead, FL on June 25, 1983.

Bill accepted a temporary working arrangement for Maersk Oil & Gas and he and Paulette spent two-and-one-half years in Esbjerg, Denmark, which was an outstanding opportunity. Returning to New Orleans, LA in 1986, he welcomed his first child, Colin Rowe, into the world. In 1988 the family was transferred to Tulsa, where his daughter, Kayley Boyd was born in 1989.

In 1994, Texaco felt the need to make use of Bill in New Orleans and the family spent the next five years in Mandeville, 1999 brought yet another move to Houston, TX. Bill was part of their international division, making trips to Brazil and Nigeria. This was his final work with Chevron-Texaco. He received an early retirement package from them in 2006. Bill then signed on as a consultant with Deep Sea Development Services. He enjoyed working with people, some of whom became his best friends and sparring buddies. He retired completely in 2016.

Bill was a devoted father and husband, totally dedicated to his immediate family as well as his parents and siblings. Bill was preceeded in death by his father Arthur E. Coons and his mother Marcellene Boyd Coons. Surviving him is his spouse Paulette, son Colin Coons and his wife Rachel Brunick and their newborn son Jason Connor, and his daughter Kayley Coons. Surviving siblings include Duncan Coons and wife Cheryl of Perry, OK, Marcia Clarke and husband Larry of Little Rock, AR, and Dale Coons and wife Kim of Ponca City, OK. In addition, he is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins who were all important to him.

His talents were amazing. Laying tile, cutting and installing crown molding, and building garden ponds were some of his achievements. Kids would draw on pumpkins or sketch a Halloween costume and he would make it happen. He loved doing things for his family and friends. He will be sorely missed.
