Valynda Ann Carruth Christian, born December 15, 1946, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away on New Year's Eve, December 31, 2024, at 78. She leaves behind a cherished legacy of love, devotion, and a life well-lived.
Valynda was the beloved wife of Roger Christian, with whom she shared fifty-four years of love and partnership. Together, they built a family that brought her immense pride and joy. She is survived by her son, Ryan Christian, and his wife, Jennifer, along with their daughters, Jacey, Kynzie, Jennah, and Ralynn. She is also survived by her daughter, Kimberly Cotton, her husband, Chris, and their daughter, Piper.
Valynda is also survived by her sister, Floy Dean, and her nieces, Tara Williams and Dena Jones, who were very dear to her heart. Valynda and Floy Dean shared a love of adventure, often traveling and enjoying cruises with Roger, creating treasured memories.
A proud Oklahoman, Valynda was a devoted fan of the Oklahoma City Thunder and a loyal Oklahoma Sooner through and through. Her enthusiasm for her teams was contagious, and she loved cheering them on with family and friends.
For 35 years, Valynda worked as an administrative assistant at Conoco, where her dedication and work ethic earned her the respect of her colleagues. After retiring, she embraced her role as a grandmother, devoting her time to creating cherished memories with her granddaughters, who were the light of her life. She also had a passion for volleyball and enjoyed the camaraderie and joy the game brought her.
Valynda was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Carruth, and her mother, Hester Etta Carruth.
A graveside service to celebrate Valynda’s life will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Blackburn Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life and remember the joy she brought to everyone who knew her.
Valynda Ann Carruth Christian will forever be remembered for her unwavering love for her family and adventurous spirit. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Rest in peace, Valynda, in the eternal embrace of love and light.
