Master Sergeant Turner Brashears “Rusty” Turnbull III, (Retired) was born, September 23, 1945, in Pawnee, Oklahoma, to Rosanna Yellowcalf and Walter J. Turnbull Jr.
Rusty grew up in Guam and joined the US Army in April 1967. He served his Country honorably for over 19 years in the Special Forces. He served 2 tours in Vietnam and earned the prestigious Bronze Star Medal.
Rusty passed away on April 29, 2018, in Cape Fear Valley Hospital after an illness.
Rusty is survived by his wife, Susan, daughters, Lori Reed, Luci Peak, Samantha Isham and four grandchildren, Madison, Sophia, Ariel and Michael, a sister, Suzanne Turnbull, and a brother, James Prim, and many other family members including cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Don Prim.
Services are Saturday 10:00 A.M. May 5, 2018 in the Pawnee Indian Baptist Church with Rev. Duane Pratt officiating.
Rusty’s wishes are being honored and he will be laid to rest on May 5, 2018 in the Pawnee Indian Cemetery in the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma. Services were entrusted to the Poteet Funeral Home and Cremation Services. An online guestbook is available on the www.poteetfuneralhome.com website.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation would be appreciated.
