Theodore Black Jr.

Theodore Black, Jr. passed into rest on Sunday May 10, 2015 at his home in Red Rock, Oklahoma. He was 63 years of age. Ted was born in Pawnee, Oklahoma on July 6, 1951 to Theodore Black, Sr. and Lena R. (Shadlow) Black. Ted was a member of the Otoe-Missouria Tribe Elk Clan. He was raised and lived in Red Rock his entire life, leaving only during his service in the United States Marine Corps where he was stationed in California. Ted graduated from Red Rock High School and attended Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa, Oklahoma. He also graduated from the federal law enforcement academy in Artesia, New Mexico. Ted earned his living in law enforcement having worked for various agencies surrounding the Red Rock area. He also was a skilled carpenter having worked on the renovations at the Pioneer Technology Center and Oklahoma State University. Recently he enjoyed farming and raising animals.

On December 15, 1973 he married the love of his life the former Barbara G. Graham. They enjoyed 41 years of marriage. To this union five children were born. Ted his survived by his wife Barbara of the home, his son Joseph of Red Rock, his son James and his wife Alison of Red Rock, his son Jason and his wife Stephanie of Red Rock, his daughter Patricia and her husband Brandt Bolay of Red Rock and his son Alex and his wife Noel of Perry.

The greatest joy of Ted's life were his grandchildren. He spent all the time he could find with each and everyone of them. He was so proud of all of them and would do anything within his capability to make them happy. Ted's grandchildren are Jason Jr., Jaron, Kiara, and Jaxon Black, Jalen, Shelby, Madison, and Jude Black, Aven and Brielyn Black, and one grandchild he was anxiously awaiting the arrival of in August.

Ted was a very kind and giving person. He would go out of his way to help others even at his own expense and never wanted any recognition or thanks. He was very strict and held every important values that he imparted to all his children and grandchildren. Ted felt very blessed to have such a wonderful wife, children and grandchildren. He was not materially wealthy but in all the ways that really matter he was rich beyond measure. Ted left this life unexpectedly and much too soon but leaves behind a great legacy in his children and grandchildren lives.

Theodore was preceded in death by his father, mother and three sisters. A celebration of his life will take place at Ranch Drive Baptist Church in Ponca City Oklahoma at 2 pm on Wednesday May 13, 2015. Rev. Gerald Graber will officiate. Casket bearers will be Joseph, James, Jason, Alex, Tim Black and Joseph Hill. After the service Ted will be laid to rest on family property in Red Rock, Oklahoma
