Thelma "Charlene" Fisher

Thelma Charlene Fisher was born to Miles Everett & Delia Ann Lemaster on July 11, 1927 in Stigler, OK and crossed the bridge into Heaven on August 7th, 2020 at the Oklahoma Heart Institute in Tulsa, OK. Charlene was the 5th of 6 children. In 1929, the family left Mena, Arkansas in a covered wagon, travelling through Tulsa to Blackburn Oklahoma. They camped along the way, with their dad building bonfires in the evening for their mom to cook the family meals. 2 years old and the youngest of the 5 kids at the time, the story goes that the wagon hit a rock, causing Charlene to fall out of the wagon – she always joked she hit her head & that was what was wrong with her!
The family settled in Blackburn, where she grew up & graduated from Blackburn High School. She fell in love with Warren Clifford (Babe) Fisher & they were married December 26, 1945 in Winfield, KS. They settled in Blackburn & had 2 children, Radean Sue & Ricky Don born 9 years later. In 1965, they moved to Pawnee & lived there until 2000 when Babe’s health failed & they moved to Ponca City to be near Sue.
Charlene’s life was always centered around her family. She was happiest when she was cooking – and was she ever a good cook! At 93, she could not only bake a beautiful pie – but it was always so delicious! She couldn’t wait for Sue’s church’s youth group to have their annual dessert auction fundraiser. Her pies always caused a bidding war - & some brought $200 or more. She would be so excited that the next year, she would bake even more!
Christmas started early in December & the kitchen was busy – known for all of her Christmas candy & cookies, she was famous for her Santa Claus cookies that she so meticulously decorated. If you didn’t get to come home for Christmas, not to worry – she always had the Santa cookies saved in the freezer waiting!
She was so loved by her family and they are beyond blessed to have had her for 93 years. Her contagious smile and infectious spirit will be missed greatly – but her memory will live on!
She is survived by her daughter, Sue Kistler of Ponca City, OK; Sister, Willodean Fisher of Ponca City, OK; Daughter-in-law, Carolyn Fisher of Pawnee, OK; Grandchildren, Ginger Schultz of Houston,TX, Skipp & Joy Kistler of Tulsa, OK, Toby & Tammy Fisher of Gravette, AR, & Cody Fisher of Stillwater, OK; Great-grandchildren, Deserae & Justin Stewart of Siloam Springs, AR, Caiti & Garrett Parr of Bartlesville, OK, Garett & Sumer Fisher of Gentry, AR, Colton Schultz of Ponca City, OK, Nate Kistler and Erin Kistler of Tulsa, OK, Luke, Rikki, & Averie Fisher & Gracie Austin of Fairfax, OK; Great-great-grandkids, Liam, Declan, & Baylor Stewart of Siloam Spring, Ark, and many nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom she loved dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Babe, son Ricky Don, son-in-law Stan Kistler, brothers Lester, James, & Hershall Lemaster, & her sister, Hester Carruth.
Charlene will be buried next to her beloved husband and son in Highland Cemetery in Pawnee at 1 pm Monday, August 10th.
