Sue (Jestes) Myers passed away on March 20, 2025, in Edmond, Oklahoma, at the age of 86.
Sue was born on May 14, 1938, in Pawnee, Oklahoma. She graduated proudly from Pawnee High School as part of the Class of 1956. Throughout her life, she pursued a variety of careers, demonstrating adaptability and dedication in every role she undertook. She worked as a telephone operator and customer service employee before transitioning into marketing as a secretary for Ditch Witch. Later, she held several positions at the University of Central Oklahoma, where one of the highlights of her career was serving as an administrative assistant to former Governor George Nigh and Dr. Roger Webb during their tenures as university presidents. In her final professional role, Sue worked alongside her husband Bob as an ‘administrative assistant’ and survey crew member for their aerial mapping company.
Sue first married her high school sweetheart, Howard (Jim) Hillis. Due to Howard’s career in sales, they moved frequently but built a loving home together with their two children, Vicki and Jim. After 19 years of marriage, Howard passed away, and Sue relocated with her children to Perry. Years later, she rekindled a friendship with Bob Myers, a fellow member of the Pawnee High School Class of 1956. Their bond grew into love, and they were married on September 24, 1977. Bob and Sue were married 47 year.
A woman of many interests and talents, Sue found joy in traveling with Bob—often with him as the pilot. She even took flight classes herself and successfully completed a solo flight. Her creativity shone through in painting, sewing, and knitting projects. She had a passion for cooking and baking, frequently taking classes to explore new recipes. Gardening brought her peace, while reading provided endless hours of enjoyment.
Sue is survived by her husband Bob Myers; daughter Vicki Braden of Ponca City; son Jim Hillis (Susan) of Edmond; grandchildren Nathan Hillis (Kelley) of Edmond, Blake Braden (Cassie) of Edmond, Madilynn Pedersen (Kyle), and Brett Braden (Shelby); as well as six great-grandchildren, Owen Braden, Laina Hillis, Parker Braden, Drew Pedersen, Hayden Pedersen, Reagan Braden. Sue enjoyed her numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-laws; father-in-laws; sisters; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.
Sue had a very special place in her heart for their friends of the Good News Sunday School Class at the First United Methodist Church.
A graveside service will be held on March 25, 2025, at Highland Cemetery in Pawnee, Oklahoma. Services will begin at 2:00 PM and conclude at 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to First United Methodist Church of Edmond (304 E Hurd) Senior Connection.
Sue’s memory will live on through the love she shared with family and friends. May those who knew her find comfort in remembering the warmth and kindness she brought into their lives.
