Steven Broyles Crocker
Steven (Steve) was born October 29, 1954, in Pawnee, Oklahoma. He lost his battle with COVID 19 on August 30, 2021, in Bartlett, Tennessee. Steve always knew he wanted to be a pilot. After graduating from OSU, he worked his way into aviation by obtaining a flight instructor's rating that allowed him to build up flight hours by teaching at various flights schools. During his career, he flew for Republic, Northwest and Delta Airlines, based in Detroit, Michigan. Steve retired in October 2019 after a 35-year flying career. He stopped counting accumulated flight hours after 30,000+. A fellow pilot said, “There isn’t an airplane that Steve could not fly.” He was most proud of his Twin Comanche airplane and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. At the time of his retirement, he was flying international flights as a captain of the Airbus 330. He was well loved by the general aviation community in the Memphis area, and throughout the country.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Carmen. He leaves behind his loving wife, Paola, stepson Milo Jr. (Megan) and step-granddaughter Olivia and step-daughter Gina. He has twin daughters living in Kansas, Heather (Shawn) and granddaughter Brenda, Jennifer (Jason) and grandson Denver and granddaughter Dakota. He leaves behind his brother from Pawnee, Oklahoma, Ted (Alesa), nephews Leslie, Rolen (Malica) and Corbin. Also his brother Fred, residing in Mississippi. He leaves his Aunt Mary Lou Richardson and cousin, Tracy Richardson, (Clara) of Cushing, Oklahoma. Steve was the happiest when he was surrounded by his family and friends. He passed away a very happy man.
Steve will be interred in his hometown of Pawnee, Oklahoma. Due to COVID, the date for a graveside service is to be determined. In lieu of an immediate memorial service in Memphis, we will celebrate Steve’s life at an appropriate time and place in the near future.
