Sarah Sue Carpenter was born on June 16, 1952, in Little Rock, Arkansas. She passed from this earth on Friday morning, August 25, 2023. She was 71 years of age.
Sarah attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock where she studied music. Her instrument was the Oboe, one of the more difficult woodwind instruments to play. She worked for, and retired from the IRS where she was a computer analyst for over 25 years.
Sarah was married to Chris Carpenter in April of 1990 until Chris passed away in October of 1995.
Sarah was engaged with her community and very generous, contributing to causes such as the VFW, Pawnee Bill Ranch, and the local PEO chapter. She is also responsible for getting the Town of Pawnee named a Purple Heart Town. She volunteered at the Cornerpost for several years after moving to Pawnee and this is where she met many of the local people and made many friends. Sarah was a collector, and she was most proud of her Dickens Christmas Village. She shared her collections with the Town of Pawnee and she spent many hours decorating for the Christmas Holiday at Town Hall. She loved photography and loved photographing the eagle pair at Pawnee Lake. Her accomplishments are too numerous to list here, and all were motivated by her generous spirit and kind heart.
Sarah was a positive influence on everyone she knew. She was a storyteller with a wealth of life experiences to share. She accomplished many things over the years, but the love and care she gave to her friends and family were her most endearing qualities.
Halley, her Lab mix was the love of her life.
Sarah Carpenter is survived by her sister, Stella Ann Leonard of Pawnee, Nephew, Russ Wilson and wife Mary of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Niece, Adrienne Wilson and Husband Rick Chance and Great Nieces and Nephews, and her beloved dog, Halley. She is preceded in death by her Husband, Chris Carpenter and parents Willio O. and Nellie R. (Jay) Gray.
Private services for family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Pawnee Bill Ranch, the local VFW, or the local PEO chapter.
