Quinton L. Lyon

Quinton L. Lyon, 84, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2017, at Stillwater Medical Center, Stillwater, OK.  He was born on February 5, 1933, in Skedee, OK, to Wesley Warren Lyon and Lorena (Poos) Lyon.  He attended school in Skedee and Blackburn.  He proudly served in the U.S. Army in an Infantry Combat Unit during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1955. He married Barbara Johnston on July 7, 1956, and they moved to Stillwater, OK, in 1958; he owned and operated a barber shop in downtown Stillwater for over 30 years.  Over time he was active in Glencoe, Pawnee, and Fairfax  Masonic Lodges and became a Master Mason. He retired in 1992 and moved to the family farm in Pawnee Co., OK.            Quinton enjoyed hunting, fishing, pecan tree grafting, and barbed wire collecting.  He was a pilot and enjoyed flying light aircraft.  He also enjoyed gardening and planted a large garden which provided family and friends with many fruits and vegetables.  He cherished spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren.            Quinton is survived by his two children; Terry Lyon (Sheryl) of Morrison, OK, and Timothy Lyon (Rhonda) of Midwest City, OK.  He is also survived by his grandchildren; Shauna Lyon, Zachary Lyon, Kirby Lyon, Katie Lyon (fiance Austin Helms).  Also surviving is his brother Jack Lyon of Pawnee, OK.            Quinton was preceded in death by his parents, wife Barbara, sister Norma Lyon, and brother Leroy Lyon.            Lastly, the family would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Audra Staires and Donna Arnold, along with all the others that cared for Quinton, including the staff at Stillwater Medical Center.  We appreciate you greatly. Services are Thursday 10:00 A.M. March 16, 2017 Graveside at the Morrison Cemetery with Pastor Roy Fleshman officiating.
