Pearle Sue Haymond, aged 75, residing in Portland, Oregon passed away on Wednesday, August 10th, 2022, from complications of breast cancer.
Pearle, born on January 3rd, 1947 in Ponca City, Oklahoma, was a member of the Pawnee Nation, Kitkahaki Band. She grew up in Pawnee, Oklahoma, and Los Angeles, California and she moved to Portland in 1976 where she studied at Portland State University. She went on to work in social services at the old Urban Indian Center where she provided services to the Native population in Portland.
Pearle married Mark Allen and had one son with him, Charlie Allen (who is a Navy Veteran and therefore made her a Pawnee War Mother). She later married Timothy Brown and had two children, Barry Brown and Tamara Brown.
Pearle lived a full life, often enjoying bingo, bowling, and playing pool. She was a Southern Womens Clothe dancer, and danced at home in Oklahoma, and all over the United States. She also loved to sew and bead, and create regalia for her family. Her humor and laughter was infectious and there was never a dull moment when she was around. She was a proud grandmother to her grandchildren. She was best friend’s with her granddaughter, Alyssa, and she played an everyday role in all of her grandchildren’s lives including being an integral part of advocating for the family to get custody of her grandson, Ryder. Her family was extremely important to her, and she was always there for everyone, family or not.
She is survived by her children Charlie Bay Allen, Barry Maurice Brown, Tamara Danielle Brown, siblings, Karen Haymond, Sharon Tafoya, Sandra Haymond, June Allen, Michelle Leadingfox, and brother Ralph Haymond Junior. She is also survived by her grandchildren Ryder Brown, Sage Porter, Alyssa Manning and Talon Manning. Also survived by several nieces and nephews that she loves so dearly.
