Michael Anthony Wren

Michael “J.J.” Anthony Wren was an ornery but loving husband, Dad, Gramps, brother, and friend. He passed away on Monday June 5th at the age of 62 after many long health battles.

He was born May 22, 1961 in Enid, Oklahoma to Mary Ann and Eddie Wren. J.J. lived most of his life in Pawnee County Oklahoma. He spent a considerable amount of time in his younger years traveling all over the U.S. as a welder and met many friends along the way. At retirement, he settled down in Pawnee at the Lakeside Rodeo Arena with his wife Toni where he could be found tinkering with something to pass the time or helping Ronnie get ready for the next rodeo season.

J.J. enjoyed his grandkids, gardening, and gambling. He always had a surprise for the grandkids and would often ask them to bring him “something bizarre, but not too crazy”. There was never a dull moment when you were in his company. During the Summer, you could expect to see him planting and tending to his garden and then giving away all his harvest because he didn’t care for vegetables.

Michael was preceded in death by his mother and step- father, Mary Ann Kilpatrick and Pat Kilpatrick; father, Eddie Wren; and brothers, William, Freddie, and Bobby Wren.

He is survived by his wife Toni of Pawnee; Daughter, Jenny Seals and her husband Jeremy of Skedee; Son, Brandon Wren and his wife Jessica of Pawnee; Daughter, Sara Wren of Tulsa; Grandchildren, Jasper Seals, Paisley Seals, Pearl Seals, Violet Wren, and Avery Wren; Sister, Dublin Burgess and her husband Dusty of Jennings; and Brother, Jim Kilpatrick of Jennings.

A Celebration of Life for J.J. will be held on Saturday June 17th at 4pm at the Pawnee Bill Memorial Rodeo Event Center at the Pawnee Lakeside Arena. All that knew him are invited to join us. Bring your favorite J.J. stories, we would love to hear them.
