Mark (The Duke) Whitehorn II, 61, passed away on Sunday May 19, 2019 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born in Enid, Oklahoma on August 26, 1957 to Mark and Elsie (Springer) Whitehorn. Mark attended Enid Schools and spent the last 13 years of his life in California and met a lot of good people there before moving back to Red Rock, Oklahoma. He was born Eagle Clan, enrolled with the Otoe-Missouria Tribe, he was a life long member of the First Born Church and a member of the Otoe Native American Church. Markie enjoyed watching the Oklahoma City Thunder, fishing and spending time with grand children. Markie was skilled at making Native American Church Drums and Drumsticks, he also enjoyed "Tying up and Singing". Markie was a fun loving person that loved joking around and putting a smile on anyone's face. Markie will be missed dearly by his family and friends. He is survived by his long time companion Chris Whitehorn and children Brandon Whitehorn of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Angela Whitehorn of Red Rock, Oklahoma, grand children Aeralyn Whitehorn, Nylah Whitehorn, Alayna Whitehorn, Tylan Whitehorn, Miah Pratt, Isalah Whitehorn, and Aliyah Whitehorn, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents Mark and Elsie and three brothers Ronald, Johnny, and Randall Whitehorn. Casket bearers will be Brandon Whitehorn, Ronnie Whitehorn, Colby Whitehorn, Bobby Sam, Al Springer, and Galen Springer. Traditional prayer services will begin Monday May 20, 2019 at 5:00 P.M. in the Otoe-Missouria Tribal Cultural Center with Jim Grant Officiating. A traditional feast will be held Wednesday May 22, 2019 at 12:00 followed by burial in the Otoe-Missouria Tribal Cemetery.
