Marion Johnston was born January 22, 1923 and went to be the Lord on December 5, 2021 after 98 years ,10 months, and 13 days on this earth. He was born and raised in Pawnee, Oklahoma to George Byron and Susie Amy Johnston. He volunteered for the American Red Cross for 31 years and donated 25 gallons of blood to the organization over his lifetime. Marion retired from the Airforce as a Major after serving in WWII and continued as a reservist for several years. Marion also retired from the US Postal Service as a carrier and during the great times he enjoyed puzzles, dominoes, pinochle, and playing chess in his free time. If he was to be remembered for any one thing, is that he was a jokester and known by many as “the troublemaker”.
He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Grace of Tulsa, OK; daughter Lynda Vance and grandson Travis Vance of Tulsa, OK; granddaughter Tammy Woodin, grandson-in-law Danny and great grandchildren Dylan, Emma, and Wyatt of Kalkaska, MI and grandson Bradly Vance and grandson-in-law Fabiano Kobner, of Dallas, TX.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in his memory to the American Red Cross (https://www.redcross.org/donate/donation.html/). Visitation will be held Thursday December 9, 2021 from 12:00 P.M. till 7:00 P.M. Services will be held at 2pm Friday December 10, 2021 at Pawnee United Methodist Church, (800 6th St). with Rev. Pam Cottrill officiating. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Poteet Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
