Marieta Vernice (Calvert) Denton

Marieta Calvert was the first child born to Frank and Edith Calvert in Tulsa, OK on March 8,1959. She graduated class of '77 from Edison High School and continued her education at NEO A&M College in Miami, OK. She married Bruce Denton and with this union created two miracles; the "awesomeness" Briana Elaine Denton and the "fierceness" Brishaun Elise Denton.She was employed at The Adams Mark Hotel and The Delta Cafe for a number of years. She then went on to work for The Tulsa County Sheriff Dept. (CCA), until her health failed due to Breast Cancer causing her to  retire early.Marieta enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, music and enjoying her favorite red wine with family and friends.She accepted Jesus Christ in her life at an early age and was a member of Timothy Baptist Church.She was preceeded in death by her Father Frank Calvert Sr. and late husband Bruce E. Denton.Marieta is survived by her daughters Briana E. Denton of Tulsa, OK and Brishaun E. Denton of Edmond, OK; her Mother Edith Calvert; and her siblings Jacqueline Calvert, Rosa Calvert, Frank Calvert Jr. (Zeta) of Tulsa, OK, and James Earl Calvert (Jerry) of Costa Mesa, California. She also leaves behind a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.Marieta was a strong, kind, sweet, and exceptional mother, daughter, aunt, sister and friend; who fought a good fight and kept the faith as a God fearing woman.
