Majorie Janelle Odiachi

Marjorie Janelle Odiachi, age 70 passed from this life on January 21st, 2019 in Muskogee, OK at Cornerstone Hospital. Marjorie Janelle Rolland was born the second eldest child to Howard Rolland Sr. and Hattie Mae (Abington) Rolland on June 23rd, 1948. Margie was raised in Pawnee, starting school at age 6 at the Lincoln School for African-American Children. Marjorie attended school there from age 6 until the public schools were integrated. Marjorie graduated from Pawnee High School, classes of 1966 at age 17. As a teenager, Marjorie worked as a nurse’s aide at Pawnee Osteopathic hospital. She enjoyed going fishing and spending time with her grandfather Nathaniel (Papa) and cooking for the Rotary Club with her Aunt Edith Thompson. After graduating high school, Marjorie attended nursing school in Bartlesville, Ok. Marjorie accepted Christ as her lord and savior at a young age, being a confirmed Christian in the African-American Methodist Episcopal Church. Marjorie later attended Antioch Baptist church and became a member of Emmanuel Church of God in Christ. On June 15th, 1979, Marjorie met and married Donald Odiachi in Ponca City, Ok. They were married 30 years before his passing in 2009. From this union, came her beloved children, Paul and Brittney. Marjorie held many jobs over the years, including working for the Houston Chronicle, and Running and Ice Cream Business in Houston, Tx. With her husband. Marjorie enjoyed spending time with her family especially during the holidays, cooking, singing gospel songs, and was known for peach cobbler and hot rolls.
Marjorie is survived by her children Paul Odiachi, Pawnee, Ok, Brittney Odiachi, Stillwater, Ok, 7 step-children, Lagos Nigeria, Aunt Connie (Rolland) McClain, Wichita, KS, Aunt Vera (Abington), Barber, Fairfax, Ok, Beloved Niece Rebecca Rolland Penner (Mike), Sooke, Canada, Sister Edwina Rolland, Pawnee, OK, Jerry and wife Brenda Rolland, Pawnee, ok, Sister in Law Vicki Rolland, Stillwater, OK, and sister In law Debby Rolland, Maramec, Ok. Nieces and nephews include: Angela Piotrowski, Perkins, Sarah Duncan (Alvin Frazier), Tulsa, Melissa (Tim) Miller, Tulsa, Jenifer Rolland, Tulsa, JR. (Tiffany) Rolland, Maramec, Shawna(Ally Pershall), Oklahoma City, Amy Rolland, Oklahoma City, Justin Rolland, Pawnee, and Tyler, Rolland, Grand Forks, ND and a host of cousins.
Great nieces and nephews include: Jay Jay, Julien, Jayden, Lily, Timothy, Kennedi, Carmine, Sariha, Jasmine, and Milo.
Marjorie especially enjoyed spending her spare time with great nieces and nephews: Jay Jay, Lily, Kennedi, and Carmine.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband Donald Odiachi, son Michael Odiachi, Siblings: Ronald, Harold, Howard Jr., Edward and Thresa Rolland. Parents: Howard Rolland Sr. and Hattie Mae (Abington) Rolland, Paternal Grandparents Martha (Brown) Rolland and Ruben Rolland, and Maternal Grandparents Viola (Graham) Abington and Jerry Nathaniel (Papa) Abington. Services will be held under the direction of Poteet’s Funeral Home in Pawnee, Ok. Services will be Saturday 1:00 P.M. February 2nd, 2019 at the First Baptist Church. Donations can be made to Poteet’s Funeral Home and Emmanuel Church of God in Christ.
