Lewie Dietz passed from this life on 8-15-22 at the age of 64.
Lewie was born on March 9th, 1958, to Charles and Molly (Hartwick) Dietz in Gardner, Kansas. He graduated from Pawnee High School in 1976. He then attended Oklahoma State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology at the top of his class.
Lewie worked at the Pawnee Golf Course since 1996 either running the course with brother-in-law Charlie Bowen or more recently as green’s keeper for Mark Palmatary. Lewie had to stop taking care of the greens himself last fall because of his illness, but has been a great help to Mark checking on the greens regularly and offering advice to keep them healthy, up until just a week ago. Lewie was a self taught green’s keeper and his greens were some of the best in the state. He devoted many years making Pawnee Golf Course a course the city could be proud of.
He also loved playing golf with friends and family. One of his favorite things was to heckle all his golf buddies. He also loved helping Kim with all her outdoor projects.
Lewie was a multi-talented, caring individual, who was loved by everyone who knew him. He will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his mom, dad and grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Kim of the home; daughter, Jessica Dietz of Ft Worth, TX; daughter, Jamie Whitaker and fiancé Steve Hoag of Joplin, MO; son, Cody Whitaker of Joplin, MO; daughter, Kacey Mills and husband Devin of Pawnee; 3 grandchildren, Peyton Talley, Jensen Whitaker, and Devin Mills, Jr; sister, Andy Bowen and husband Charlie of Pawnee; brother, David and wife Rhonda of Jenks, OK; brother-in-Law, Bill Collins and wife Katsy of Plano, TX; mother-in-law, Janice Collins of Oklahoma City; and many nieces and nephews.
There has been a fund established for a memorial for Lewie at the Pawnee Golf Course. Donations can be made to the Pawnee Municipal Trust Authority, and mailed to the golf course at 347851 E 4400 Rd, Pawnee OK, 74058.
