LaVeta JoAnn Doak was born to Arietta Bernice Doak and Perry Hamilton Doak on December 27, 1941, on Wigginhorn Ranch. Throughout her childhood her family moved around allowing her father to work on various ranches. In May of 1961 JoAnn graduated from Max High School in Nebraska. She had four children, Lona, Kenny, Rodger & Ricky Short. JoAnn loved to read, enjoyed tending to her flowers & sharing embroidered tea towels.
In 1979 the family settled in Morrison, Oklahoma. JoAnn was employed at Gibsons in Stillwater and was a friendly face at Morrison’s Lil’ Country Express for several years. She found the love of her life in Dale Ray Pinkston in 1994 who she married on November 21, 1997, in Oberlin, Kan. JoAnn was called to join our lord on December 13, 2023.
JoAnn is preceded in death by her parents, brother Wayne Doak & wife Vonda, sister Patricia Norton, sister Georgia ‘Jodie’ Kirby, brother-in-law Rodney Mustard, son Kenny Short & daughter Lona Gordon. She is survived by husband Dale Ray Pinkston of Glencoe, Okla., sister Janet Lawver & husband Stan of Neb., sister Blanche Mustard of Alva, Okla. Brother Elza Doak & wife Lea Ann of McCook, Neb., brother Ed Doak & wife Francis of Alva, Okla., son Rodger Short & Wife Kathie of Glencoe, Okla., son Ricky Short of Glencoe, Okla., son-in-law James Gordon of Stillwater, Okla., nine grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, & one great-great grandchild soon to join her legacy.
Services will be held January 6th, 2024, at the Glencoe United Methodist Church at 2:00 pm.
