Lance B. Mitchell was born on June 3, 1939 in Ralston, Oklahoma to Herschell W. Mitchell and Bea I. Mitchell. He passed from this life on October 10, 2022 at his home in Pawnee, Oklahoma, having reached the age of 83 years, 4 months, and 7 days.
Lance’s first four years of schooling were at Ralston, after which he spent the next four years attending school at Victor schoolhouse. His final 4 years of schooling were at Pawnee where he graduated in 1957.
At an early age, he had a love of animals and every aspect of farming. As a young man he was active in 4-H and FFA showing cattle and earning many honors.
He married De An Kite on June 4, 1961 in the First Christian Church in Pawnee. Soon after their marriage, Lance joined the United States Army and spent the next 4 years in service to his country, several months of which were in Germany. After his Honorable Discharge from active duty, Lance worked in the oil fields and road construction until he became a full-time farmer and rancher. He loved farming and ranching and spending time with his family and all the relationships he made through these endeavors.
Lance is survived by his wife De An Mitchell of the home in Pawnee, a daughter Michelle Spears and her husband Roger of Mannford, Oklahoma, son Mark Mitchell of Pawnee, Oklahoma, grandchildren Adam and Shelby Spears, Grove, Oklahoma, Hannah Spears and Tyler Ingram of Portland, Oregon, and Samantha Mitchell and Ethan Gray of Norman, Oklahoma as well as brothers Larry Mitchell and his wife Peggy of Ralston, Oklahoma and Roger Mitchell and his wife Sherry, Ralston, Oklahoma, and a sister Linda Bertrand of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents Herschell and Bea Mitchell and sister Carol Ann Myers as well as brothers-in-law Jim Myers, Don Holt, and Ernest Smith.
