Kenneth Roberts of Pawnee, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 84 years.
Kenneth was born December 4, 1932, in Pawnee, Oklahoma. He was the son of Rush, Jr. and Sally Spotted Horsechief. He grew up in Pawnee attending the Pawnee Indian School. He also attended school at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas and Arlington University in Arlington, Texas. Kenneth served his country in the United States Army. He later moved to Oakland, California. During his time in California, Kenneth worked as a machinist at Hughes Aircraft. Kenneth also resided in Los Angeles and San Diego before he returned to Pawnee in 2012.
Kenneth enjoyed being outdoors and always enjoyed being at the beach or sitting at the pier. He also loved the times he attended the tribal pow wows. Kenneth was a Heredity Chief of the Kitkehahki and the Skidi Bands. Kenneth enjoyed spending time at the public libraries.
Survivors are his daughter Tamara Twins of the home; sisters Joann Spotted Horsechief Roberts of Pawnee, Oklahoma and her son Steve, Wynema Matthews of Tahlequah, Oklahoma and her daughters Vera and Selena; granddaughters Margaret Twins of the home, Vanessa VanDeventer of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Sasha Morgan of Pawnee, Oklahoma; grandsons Ethan Twins of Stillwater, Oklahoma; great grandsons Collin VanDeventer, Sebastian Twins-De Lodge, Hendrix VanDeventer; great granddaughters Layla VanDeventer, Piper Morgan and a host of other relative and friends that will mourn his passing. In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by his mother Stella Knifechief; brother Joseph Roberts; daughter Juanita De Lodge; son Battiest Robedeaux, Jr. and a grandson Kenneth Adachi.
Services will be held 2:00 PM Monday at the Pawnee Nation Roam Chief Event Center with Warren Pratt, Jr. officiating. Prayer services will be Saturday and Sunday evenings. Burial will follow in the South Indian Cemetery in Pawnee, Oklahoma. Friends may share a memory with the family at the Roam Chief Event Center or online at www.poteetfuneralhome.com.
Following the burial potluck dinner to be served at the Roam Chief Event Center.
