Kelvin “Buck” Eugene Abington, was born to Abe and Betty Louise Abington, on February 22, 1960 in Pawnee, Oklahoma. Buck was baptized at the age of 8 years old, He and his family were members of the Church of God in Christ, where they were involved and attended many church activities and events. He completed his Elementary and High School education in Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Graduated in 1979 with a full Football scholarship to Central State University, in Oklahoma City, OK. Known as Buck to many he was a man of character and honor. As a young man, in 1977 one of his first place of employment was working for Earl Vick at the Broadway Plaza Senior Citizens Apartments. He became a part of the family and became known as a “Big Brother” & Mentor to his little white sister, Sabrena Keathly. He taught her to dance and made her feel special. While participating in Weight lifting, football, track, and baseball he accomplished many honors, certificates and awards and was very popular in every city he lived in. While attending Central State University College, Buck met his future wife Mercedes “Sandy” Newton. One of his requirements for marriage was she was to learn every position and rules of the game of his beloved football. They were married May 23, 1983 and were extremely happy because she learned the game of Football very well and they produced four children to this union, (Ebony, Emmanuel, Destiny, and Treasure). As a family they loved to travel and participate in Fashion Shows. He also worked for Phillips Petroleum Oil Industry. He was also enlisted in the Army National Guard and was discharged in 1987. Buck’s love of family and friends was always important to him. He was a dedicated Son, Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Friend. He also welcomed into his home and cared for as his own Mario “Roro” Elston; Amber Schwinn, Terrance and Diamond Newton, Trey Stewart, Tiera Smith, Timothy Patton. He fed anyone who stopped by and was always High Class GQ styled for every event. He cherished his time with his family until God called him home. On November 24, 2018 the Lord called home Kelvin “Buck” Eugene Abington. Buck leaves to cherish his memory: His loving wife, Mercedes “Sandy” Abington, of Tulsa Oklahoma., His beloved Children, Emmanuel Abington (Nit), Destiny Abington, of Wichita, Kansas and Treasure Abington, of Stillwater, Oklahoma. Sisters: Treva Roland (Marvin) of Enid Oklahoma, and Shannon Wade (Charles) of Edmond, Oklahoma. Brothers: Greg Abington, of Enid Oklahoma, Frankie Patton (Denise), and Scotty Patton (Jamie) both of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mother and Father-in-law AC and Ruby Robinson of Tulsa Oklahoma, Sisters-in-laws Val Abington (Tony) of Winfield Kansas, Jodi Abington (Jeff) of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Shaletha Newton, 3 beautiful grandchildren(JaQ’ualyn, Jeremiah, Layla) and host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and special friends. He was preceded in death by his devoted parents, Abe and Louise Abington, his beloved daughter Ebony Abington; Sister, Roselyn Swaggert; Brothers, Antonio, Jeffrey and Wesley Abington, and granddaughter Charlee Abington.
