Judy Rae Akers

Judy Rae Akers, age 78, passed away on June 10, 2017 in Pawnee, Oklahoma surrounded by her family. She was born on November 4, 1938 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Durward and Alta Harris.

Judy graduated from Fairfax High School in 1956 and before that she attended schools in Mount Carmel, and Robinson, Illinois. She received an Associate degree in Business Administration from Tulsa Junior College. Judy worked at Unarco Industries in Tulsa, Oklahoma before taking a position at the Osage County Treasurers office in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, where she worked until she retired in 1999. After her retirement, she worked at the Fairfax polling station for the Osage County Election Board, where she took great pleasure in meeting and visiting with people.

She married Victor Akers in 1957 in Fairfax, Oklahoma. From that union, she had two children. Judy was especially proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. A talented and creative party planner, she was organized and ready for all birthday celebrations and holiday events with the family. She also loved taking road trips with her sister Sonya. At home, she enjoyed puzzles, playing cards, visiting friends and taking care of her beloved cats.

Judy is survived by her children Norman Akers, and wife Rose Akers, of Lawrence, Kansas, and Vicki Akers Pratt, and husband Bruce Pratt, of Pawnee, Oklahoma; her sister, Sonya Luckett, of Hillsboro, Illinois; grandchildren Kacie Pratt Spears and husband Richard Spears, Elisha Pratt, Taylor Pratt, Ryanne Pratt and partner Anthony Leas, Evanne Pratt and great-grandchildren Quinnlen Spears, Lola Spears, and Everlee Spears of Pawnee, Oklahoma. Judy was preceded in death by her parents and grandson John Pratt.

Arrangements are under the direction of Poteet Funeral Home, in Pawnee, Oklahoma. Visitation hours will be on Monday, June 12, 2017. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Masham Cemetery, with Bruce Pratt officiating.
