Long time resident of Perkins, OK, Joyce Erlene (Turner) Bayhylle passed from this life on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at her home. Joyce was 79 years old, born in Vancouver, Washington on January 14th 1944 as the first child of Glenn and Dortha Turner. The Turner family bounced around throughout Joyce’s childhood, living in Washington, Kansas, Texas and eventually settling in Ames, Oklahoma. Joyce was the big sister to Glenda, Teresa, and Randy. She attended Enid High where she met Myron Bayhylle, perhaps at a dance hall, that story has always been unconfirmed. The couple married on February 12, 1962 and started their family and life together. A typical date night for Myron and Joyce was drag racing, and yes Joyce drove! Joyce and Myron had 5 children and lived in Enid until 1976 when the family had the opportunity to move to Perkins, OK. And so, it began that the Bayhylle’s would move to the small community of Perkins and put down roots where generation after generation would continue to call home.
Joyce worked for Enid State School, Mercury Marine, and in the duplicating department at Oklahoma State University throughout her life, however her most rewarding job was caring for her family and home. Joyce cared for Myron, during several health battles throughout his life. She drove him back and forth to Tinker Airforce Base every day while he recovered from medical procedures and continued to work. They made a perfect team.
Joyce was a daughter, a sister, a mother, a wife and an aunt to a bunch of nieces and nephews that she cared so deeply for, then in 1988 Joyce became a grandparent and the mold was broken. There was no role greater than that of Granny.
Gran, Granny, Grandma Joyce, whatever name you wanted to call her by was the fun, giving, spoiling, sometimes strict, always cooking, best hug giving grandma type. Gran’s house is where everything happened. The family would grow and somehow there was always room. There was room at every table, at every event, in every room, and in her heart for anyone that needed it. You were always welcome at Gran’s house and a knock on the door probably meant someone was selling something, because walking right in was expected. The world kept turning and eventually grandkids had their own children, making Myron and Joyce great grandparents to 17 great grandbabies.
Joyce was the glue, the cheerleader, the safe place, the love that will forever be felt in the hearts of her family. Joyce had many hobbies and things she enjoyed such as cooking new recipes, buying gifts for those she loved (who has Temptation cookware from her?), gardening, watching her soap operas, gossiping with her sisters and friends on the phone, sewing, playing solitaire and racing the great grandkids in word search puzzles. She lived a beautiful life filled with the people that meant the most to her and for that we are grateful.
Joyce is proceeded in death by her soul mate, her loving husband Myron Bayhylle, her parents Glenn and Dortha Turner, Granddaughter Chealsea Zindell and Great Grandson Jayden Hatter.
Joyce is survived by her 5 children, Geoffrey Bayhylle and wife Krista, Resa Bayhylle, Timothy Bayhylle, Andrea Bayhylle, and Margarita Bayhylle, all of Perkins. 5 grandchildren, Kinzie Moore of Towanda, KS, Courtney Harp and husband Josh of Perkins, Katelynn Wells and husband Kyle of Calumet, OK, Derric Richards of Lawrenceville, IL, and Colt Barnett of Perkins. Her siblings, Glenda Fields of Perkins, Teresa Fiala and husband Michael of Enid, OK and Randy Turner and wife Cindy of Woodward, OK. The lights of her life, her great-grandchildren, Sophia, Kylee, Aidyn, Hayden, Ross, Gabriella, Elysabeth, Daxxon, Keagan, Madison, Emilynn, Declan. Tayvion, Dean, Lakelynn and Baby Barnett. Joyce also leaves behind nieces and nephews that meant the world to her. Aunt Joyce loved you dearly.
