John Wesley Thurber, 47, went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, April 18, 2017. John was born to John and Beverly Thurber on May 28, 1969, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He lived there for nine years, and then his family moved to Morrison, Oklahoma. He was raised there until he graduated from Morrison High School in 1988. He joined the Army in October 19, 1990, and served in the military until April 1998. He was stationed in Louisiana, Alaska, Georgia, North Carolina, and Kansas. While he was stationed in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, he served in the 82nd Airborne Division unit where he was a paratrooper. He was in the Army Reserves for five years and during this time, he served in Iraqi Freedom in 2003. He worked for AT & T from 2000-2016 when he took early retirement. Some of John's fondness memories were playing baseball, serving his country, telling military stories, being in the outdoors, camping, and shooting his guns. He was the proud father of two daughters, Autumn and Samantha. He enjoyed coaching and playing softball with Autumn and taking drives in the country talking with Samantha. He was also the proud Pa Pa of Noah and Konnor. He loved taking Noah jeeping and wrestling around with him. He was very excited about meeting Konnor. He recently rededicated his life to Christ while attending Ralston First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents John Thurber and Beverly Harp Thurber, grandparents, Lester and Vernia Thurber, grandfather James Harp. and uncle Sonny Harp. He is survived by his wife Velvet Brien Thurber, daughter Autumn Swartz and husband Kaleb, two grandsons Noah John and Konnor Wayne, daughter Samantha Thurber, grandmother Jean Norton, and aunt Susie Renfro, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
