John Robert Lyons

John Robert Lyons went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 22, 2021. His nicknames he had was Barney and Coons. John was born December 13, 1961, in Pawnee, OK to Horace Lyons, Sr. and Marcella “Smith” Lyons. John graduated from Pawnee High School in 1980 a Proud Pawnee Black Bear with achievements as all conference, all district, all area, all state, captain in football, basketball, baseball and track wearing #10 proudly. He attended Northeastern State University after graduating from High School with a football scholarship. The biggest accomplishment in his life was being baptized on June 26, 2016.
He worked at the Pawnee Chief after he graduated from High School for many years, John also had many trades and a hard worker. He enjoyed fishing, playing pool, watching his children play sports, watching his grandchildren play sports, terrorizing family and friends with his humor, he enjoyed playing in softball leagues and tournaments, faithfully read the Tulsa World and the biggest OU fan. He was a proud Pawnee, Iowa and Omaha. John was Skidi and Kitkahaki band of the Pawnee Nation.
John is preceded in death by his father Horace Lyons, Sr. and Marcella “Smith” Lyons and Sister Vera “Nene” Lyons-Thayer. He is survived by 3 children Gideon Eugene Beard, Jonas Max Lyons, Jewell Frank Lyons and Ashley Thompson. Grandchildren Christian Brian Beard, Cree Beard, Aceyn James Lyons, Addilyn Jo Lyons, Wha shi hunka Princeton Lyons and a soon to be granddaughter Jewel Kicu’ Lyons. 4 brothers Horace Lyons, Jr., Scott Lyons, Keith Lyons, and Dana Lyons. 3 sisters Vicki Larney, Andrea Bowen and Denise Moore.
He will be missed by all his family and friends.
