Joan Beverly (Jonas) Shirley

Came to us on November 21st, 1937, in Oklahoma City. She was the youngest of 8 children. Born to C.B. Jonas and Grace (Fuss) Jonas. Joan was married to Bill Shirley in 1963, (later divorced.) Later that year Joan and Bill had one son Basil Jay (just Jay to the family.)

Joan spent her life loving our Lord and Savior, and her family.

Joan worked in the banking and oil industries, retiring from British Petroleum in Houston Tx. After retiring Joan moved back to Oklahoma City.

Later in life, Joan would sew and embroider blankets and crosses. She would give the blankets to people she loved. Joan would embroider crosses and give them to her son’s church for the new members of the church and those who were at home or in the hospital. Some of these crosses found their way to Mexico and Uganda.

Joan went to the Lord, on January 26, 2023, and now in fellowship with her parents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, and one of her niece’s.

Joan is preceded in death by her parents C.B. and Grace Jonas, her brothers R.B., Oscar-Bill, Charles, Wilton, Milton, her sisters, Rosemary, and Carolyn (Brooxie) , and niece Sherry.

Joan is survived by her son Basil Jay of Oklahoma City, and former husband Bill, and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and great great nephews.
