Jeremiah Lee Whitteberry

Jeremiah Lee Whitteberry was born on June 29, 1986, in Pawnee, Oklahoma. He was the only child born to Peggy Lee Bryant & the late, Rick Whitteberry. Jeremiah, at just 34 years old, passed peacefully from this life, on September 9, 2020

Jeremiah grew up in Pawnee, Oklahoma, where he graduated from Pawnee Public Schools, in the Class of 2006. Since the day he made his debut in this world, Jeremiah has always been a social light, surrounded with more friends, than most people have in an entire lifetime. To his family, he was simply “Jeremiah” or “Cuz”, but to his closest friends & everyone he came into contact with, he was known as “Big J.”

Big J was always so much fun to be around. He was so quick witted & funny, that he could have you rolling, in the simplest of conversations. We always thought that he could be a standup comedian, because of how easy it was, for him to make everyone around him laugh. Jeremiah loved to laugh, joke around & enjoyed spending time with his friends.

In fact, Big J’s home, became the hot spot for all his friends & everyone that knew him. There was rarely a time, day or night, that he didn’t have someone over to visit him. He welcomed everyone that came to visit & would always make them feel at home & like part of his family. Whether it was the first time they met him, or if he had been friends with them for years, he always had a way of making everyone feel as if they’d known him for a lifetime. Big J was a loyal friend & to him, if you were his friend, you were also his family. And, if you were family, he always had your back.

Big J was a big man, but he also had a big heart. His size could be intimidating, & although he didn’t always show it, those that knew him knew he could be as soft & gentle as a teddy bear. Jeremiah loved kids & the kids loved Jeremiah. He had a way with them & always loved having them around.

For those who knew Big J, knew he also loved to hunt, camp out & sit around a fire visiting with friends, but more than anything, he loved to catch catfish! He didn’t care if he caught them on a pole or noodled them, just as long as he caught that big one!

Jeremiah’s light shone in this dark world. His life touched many of his family & friends. Although his time here on this earth was short, we are thankful that God gave us Big J, & allowed us to have him in our life for the season that he did.

Jeremiah didn’t always do right. He wasn’t a faithful church member, but a few months ago, he made sure his life was right with God. So today as we gather to remember him, it is not to mourn his passing, but to celebrate his life & rejoice knowing that one day we will see him again!

Big J will never be forgotten. The life he lived & the memories he left us with, will forever be cherished by his family & the friends he left behind.

Jeremiah was preceded in death by his father: Rick Whitteberry. His Paternal Grandparents: Bob & Betty Whitteberry & his Maternal Grandparents: Leroy & Joyce Bryant.
