Jeanne Lou Mclendon

Jeanne L. Gonzales McLendon was born January 4, 1932, in Pawnee, Oklahoma to Irena Knifechief Gonzales and Manuel Gonzales. She passed from this life on Sunday, August 6, 2017, in Edmond, Oklahoma having reached the age of 85 years, 7 months and 2 days.
She attended Pawnee Indian Boarding School and graduated from Haskell Indian School. As she raised her children, she lived in Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, California, Arizona, Florida and Georgia. She was happy to be able to move back to Pawnee in 2014 with two of her sons. There, she was able to reconnect with her twin sister and other family members. She was an exceptional Mom and Grand-Mom. She was a kind and gentle woman who worked hard to take care of all of us. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Rhoda Cline, Louise Norris, Emma Hayward, brothers, Howard Gonzales and Alberto Gonzales, husband Henry L. McLendon, and son Dirk B. McLendon. She is survived by her twin sister Joanne (Junior) Rankin, brother-in-law, Tom Cline, sister-in-law Joann Barnes, sons, Edmund A. McLendon, Henry L. (Debbie) McLendon III, Blade L. McLendon, Lance V. McLendon, daughter, Susan G. (Chip) Walton, grandchildren, Charrissa (James) Van Valkenberg, Ashley Edinger, Erin (Luke) Hart, Samantha (Sean) McNutt, Henry Alan McLendon, Matthew Walton and great grandchildren, Trey and Olivia Edinger, Madeline Hart, Valya, Violet, Vaeda and Vincent Van Valkenberg, and Lorelei and Liam McNutt. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The Prayer Service is to be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at 6:30pm, at the Pawnee Nation Roam Chief Event Center. The Funeral Service is to be held on Thursday, August 10, 2017, at 10:00 am, at the Pawnee Nation Roam Chief Event Center, with … officiating. Interment is at the North Indian Cemetery, Pawnee Oklahoma, under the direction of Poteet Funeral Home in Pawnee, Oklahoma.
