Jarrett Zane Maltsberger
Jarrett Maltsberger, 96, was born June 2nd, 1927, to Molly and George Maltsberger in Pawnee, Oklahoma. He was the last of 13 siblings. He went to Pawnee High School and at the age of 16 joined the Navy. During his time in the Navy, most of it was spent in hostile waters serving in World War 2 as a gunner on a destroyer and was discharged in 1946. After the Navy, Jarrett worked in Pawnee as the owner of the Phillips 66 station and later, the owner of Maltsberger Oil Company.
He was married to Carolyn Woods until her passing in 1991. They had 2 kids together: Vicki Lynn Maltsberger and David Zane Maltsberger. Vicki passed in 2001. He went on to marry Charlotte Dunn until her passing in 2021. David and his wife, Elaine, reside in Dallas, Texas.
Jarrett loved hunting, fishing, playing cards, golfing, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a devoted father and grandfather and loved going to spend time out on the property with Dave and all the kids. He was a long-time member of the First Christian Church of Pawnee.
He is survived by one son (David Maltsberger); three stepdaughters (Renee Bridges, Suan Tinsley, and Lore Burchette); 7 grandchildren (Derrell Maltsberger, Cody Maltsberger, Lindsay Murphy, Sean Tinsley, Barry Bridges, Brooke Bansal, and Halea Burchette); one nephew (Lynn Maltsberger), and 11 great grandchildren.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of life which will be held at First Christian Church in Pawnee, OK at noon on Monday, February 19th, 2024.
The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Jarrett’s name to the First Christian Church of Pawnee, P.O. Box 207, Pawnee, OK, 74058.
