Janet Lynn Dallas, 65, passed away on March 30, 2022 surrounded by loved ones.
Janet was born in Ponca City to Chester and Rachel Spears on April 23, 1956. She attended school in Ponca City until her Junior year where she transferred and graduated from Pawnee Public Schools. She met Wilbur Dallas Jr. in high school and they were married in August 1976. Soon after, they began expanding their family and had three children: first born - Melissa, favorite child - Danny, and the one who completed the family - Mandy. She began working in the Pawnee County Court Clerk's office in 1992 where she served as Deputy Court Clerk and then elected Court Clerk until she retired in January of 2021.
She was very active in the community. Janet served as a 4-H leader for many years helping anywhere she was needed. She was also active with the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life and even served as a program ambassador. She was involved in several youth sports and never missed grandkid's activities. She loved being a Black Bear and most of the time you'd find her wearing a Pawnee Black Bear t-shirt or hoody. You could always pick her out in the stands between her voice or her bell. She was Mamaw to any child who needed her.
Janet is preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Rachel Spears, and in-laws Wilbur Sr. and JoElla Dallas.
Janet is survived by her husband, Wilbur Dallas Jr., daughter Melissa Kozak and husband Adam of Pawnee, son Danny Dallas and wife Sheelah of Stillwater, daughter Mandy Drumm and husband Phil of Skiatook, brother Bruce and JoBeth Spears of Pawnee, sister Carol and Lyle McChesney of Midlothian, TX, grandchildren Jack Kozak, Tate Kozak, Evie Drumm, Kyler Dallas, Rhett Dallas and Dace Drumm.
Pallbearers will be Michael Spears, Grant Spears, Justin Buchanan, Cory Barrett, Adam Kozak and Phil Drumm.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Pawnee. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Arrangements are by Poteet Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Mamaw's name to any Pawnee youth program.
