Jack Lyon was born on August 2, 1929, in Skedee, Oklahoma, to Wesley Warren Lyon and Lorena Poos Lyon. He passed from this life on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at age 91 at Green Country Care Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He has lived in Skedee, OK; Wichita, KS; Seattle, WA; Tulsa and Pawnee, OK. After graduating from Skedee High School, he was drafted into the Army during the Korean War. He achieved the rank of Corporal while he served in the Second Infantry Tank Division. He was on the front lines at the Inchon Landing and received an Honorable Discharge in 1953. He was very proud of his combat service. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, the UN Service Medal, and the Combat Infantry Badge. He went to work for Boeing in Wichita and also worked for the Ford dealership in Pawnee, amongst other positions. He enjoyed working as a farmer and cattle rancher in Pawnee with his brothers for many years, with some of the cows eating right out of his hand. Jack tenderly cared for his Mother at home for many years as her health declined from Alzheimer’s. He also lived for 21 years in Tulsa with his loving companion, Geraldine Cochran. He volunteered at the Pawnee Historical Society and Museum for many years and enjoyed preserving photos and memorabilia. He also loved studying and discussing politics, and we had many lively family political conversations over the years. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley Warren Lyon and Lorena Poos Lyon; Brothers, Leroy Lyon and Quinton Lyon and wife, Barbara Johnston Lyon; and Sister, Norma Dean Lyon. Jack is survived by two Nephews: Terry Lyon and wife Sheryl, Morrison, OK; Timothy Lyon and wife Rhonda, Midwest City, OK; two Great Nieces, Shauna Lyon, Midwest City, OK; and Katie Helms and husband Austin, Stillwater, OK; and two Great Nephews, Zachary Lyon, Pawnee, OK; and Kirby Lyon, Pawnee, OK. We would like to thank the staffs at both Southern Oaks Care Center and Green Country Care Center for the quality care they gave Jack. The family conducted a private family Christmas Eve graveside service.
