Iris Claire (Goodfox) Pohocsucut was born November 7, 1951, in Pawnee, OK She passed away peacefully with her family by her side in Tulsa, OK, on October 19, 2018. She was a full blood member of the Pawnee Tribe, and Chaui Band, her parents are the late Lawrence Goodfox, Jr., and Doris Marie (Mary) Fields Goodfox.
She is survived by her husband, Albert J. Pohocsucut, Pawnee, OK, daughter, Jeri L. Pohocsucut Fatt, her spouse, Randell L. Fatt, grandchildren, Aubrey M Gover, Tanner R. Fatt, Tristan R. Fatt, of Frederick, MD, Aaron M Gover, Pawnee, Jaylen “B.J.” Gover, Seminole, OK, Great Grandchildren, Abrianna Gover, Duncan, OK, Starlett Karty, OKC, Aaron Karty, OKC and Kynlee Fixico, Seminole, OK. Her San Carlos Family is Tammy Shorten and daughters, Tiffany and Shauna Long, Marlana Freeman. She is also survived by brother, Larry Goodfox and sister, Debbie Dent, as well as other nieces and nephews, cousins, her aunts Wanda Goodfox Kanuho and Florence Goodfox, both of Pawnee, OK.
Iris lived 11 years in Arizona and 18 years in Wewoka, OK, where Albert was employed. Iris was a 1969 graduate of Pawnee High School and attended the University of Oklahoma after high school, where she met her husband, Albert. She was a devout Pawnee Black Bear fan and an OU Sooner fan. Iris was a member of the Pawnee Indian Baptist Church. She was also involved with the Elders Club and enjoyed the various activities such as bake sales.
Reverand Jordan Kanuho, will preside over her service, which will be at 10:00 am, Monday October 22, 2018 at the Pawnee Nation Roam Chief Building. Pall Bearers are Arlen Goodfox, Jeff Goodfox, Jason Lightfoot, Joseph “Joe” Jones, Jeffery “Boogie” Lightfoot, and Ryan Goodfox. Honorary Pall Bearers are brother, Steven Moore, Uncle Stanley Fields and Uncle Ira “Poncho” Fields, Jr.
Obituary will be read by nephew, Jeff Goodfox, and Internment will be at the North Pawnee Cemetery, Pawnee, OK. Services were entrusted to Poteet Funeral Home and Cremation Services, friends can leave a memory for the family at www.poteetfuneralhome.com
