Gwen was tiny but mighty. She was a beautiful woman who held her own. Her family was her greatest pride and joy, and she was every one of their biggest fan. She had a special way of making all of those around her feel like family. She was loved and treasured by all who were fortunate enough to know her, and to say her presence will be greatly missed is an understatement.
She was preceded in death by her parents Barbara and Charles Cantwell. Two brothers, Ricky Cantwell and Larry Cantwell. Three sisters Kelly Earheart, Shelly Pattison, and Judy Smith. And one grandson Steven Miller.
She is survived by her husband Joe Donald Hicks of the home. Daughter Camie Stilwell and son in law Robert Stilwell. Son Jason Hicks and daughter in law Bridy Hicks. And son Joe Ray Hicks Jr. Twelve grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Gwen and Joe met in 1966 and married on August 31, 1969, in Carthage Mo. They made their home in Skiatook, ok while Joe worked at John Zink, and Gwen became a beautiful housewife, raising their three children. They moved to Smoke Rise Ranch in Nowata in 1981 and lived there until 1991. They moved to the Hallett Jennings area in 2000 until 2007 when they moved to a ranch East of Pawnee. They have resided here ever since.
Gwen was a member of Pawnee First Assembly of God Church and was truly in love with Jesus.
Her celebration of life will be held at the Pawnee First Assembly of God Church, 440 Illinois Pawnee, OK on Monday, December 30, 2024, at 2 p.m. The service will be officiated by Reverend Kirby Stevens.
