Frances Rebecca Funkhouser, 89, went home to be with her heavenly father and sweetheart, Alvin, on December 1, 2017.
Frankie was born on May 15, 1928 in Pawnee, Oklahoma. She was the youngest of thirteen children, born to Charles and Mary Osborn. She was the last surviving sibling to finally arrive at their final glorious destination. What an amazing reunion that must be!
Frankie was raised in the Mannford, Oklahoma area and later, to the Pawnee, Ok area where she attended Buena Vista Grade School. Then, (quoted) she got to move to the Grand Metroplis of Skedee to attend High School. This is where she met "the handsomest boy in school!" Alvin was reluctant to be taken but, in only 3 nights later, Frances became his sweetheart and remained his one and only until his death April 10, 2007. United on Christmas Eve in 1945, they were married 61 loving years. They made a home in the country, between Skedee and Blackburn and later, moved to old home place where Alvin was born and raised. Alvin was an avid farmer, raising cattle, sheep, hogs, chickens, and even peacocks and Llamas! He hunted and sold furs in the winter months. Frances graduated Cosmetology School and had a shop at their home. They raised three sons and three daughters. The farm was sold in 2006 and they moved to Pawnee, Oklahoma.
Frances, or Grandma Frankie as so many know her, has always been known for her kind and giving heart. She was NEVER judgmental and would treat the lowest scoundrel no different than a King. Her love was unconditional! Giving her life to Christ at the age of 26, the rest of her 63 years were dedicated to loving and serving her amazing God. The seeds planted in her years of her relationship to him were beyond numerous. Admired and influenced by many, an inspiration and blessing to all. To know her was to love her.
She loved poetry and could still recite poems that were pages long from her grade school years. She loved music, cooking for family and friends, her time spent in prayer, fellowship with her church family, and leading sinners to Christ!
Francis is survived by her children Becky Roberts and Carl of Pawnee, Roger Funkhouser of Ponca City, Cindy Roberts of Pawnee, Pamela McGaha of Pawnee, Oklahoma and Alan Funhouser of Texas City, Texas. She was blessed with 12 Grandchildren, 32 Great Grandchildren and 28 Great GREAT Grandchildren! She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband Alvin Grover Funkhouser, son Terry L. Funkhouser, granddaughter Tasa Funkhouser, great granddaughter Bridget Roberts and 12 brothers and sister.
Rest in His loving arms Grandma Frankie. Your legacy will continue.
