Glenda Marie Wood died peacefully at home on Friday July 3, 2020, surrounded by family in Newcastle, Oklahoma at the age of 81.
Glenda was born in Pawnee, Oklahoma on November 29, 1938 to Glenn and Viola Wood. She eloped with her high school sweetheart, Daniel Farron Jennings, on their senior prom night in May, 1957. Glenda was blessed with three daughters and one son, Tamra Gay, Danna Lynn, and Jaclyn Rae and Joseph Charles (J.C.)
Glenda loved her family and friends, was a beautiful and fiercely independent woman, who had many jobs that she enjoyed, and when asked, said that her favorite job was working with the sweet patients at the Pawnee Hospital. Glenda loved visiting with friends and family, cooking, Hallmark movies, and the birds she kept fat and happy outside of her windows. She kept a “Thankfulness Jar” to remind her of her blessings, and the family treasures reading the notes of thanks she put in the jar.
Glenda is survived by two daughters, Tamra Jackson (Bobby) of Newcastle, Oklahoma and Danna Ellis (Craig) of Maramec, Oklahoma, and one son, Joseph Charles Price (Julie) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and grandchildren Cara Greenhaw, Cassie Guffey, Bobby Jackson, Chelsea Swinny, Jamie Bryan, Shayla Boitel, Madison Brien and Jackson Brien, Her sister-in-law Shirley Wood, cousin Treca Baer as well as many great-grandchildren who loved to visit their Grammy and bounce on her lap and find the treats and toys she kept hidden for them. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jaclyn Rae Brien, her parents Glenn and Viola Wood, her brother James B. Wood, all of Pawnee, Oklahoma.
A graveside service is scheduled for Friday 11:00 A.M. July 10, 2020 in the Highland Cemetery Pawnee with Craig Ellis and Bob Jackson officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations are sent to the American Lung Association at http://action.lung.org. The family will be eternally grateful for the hospice nurses that made it possible for Glenda to remain at home, during her last days.
Glenda will be dearly missed by her friends and family, but she knew that she would be reunited with her loved ones who preceded her in death, and the family knows that she is standing tall in her beautiful shoes, rejoicing and dancing in heaven.
Services were entrusted to the Poteet Funeral Home and Cremation Services, friends can leave a memory for the family at www.poteetfuneralhome.com
