Melony (Gaye) Sackett Goodfox was born on May 15, 1946 to Harvey and Clede (Funkhouser) Sackett. Gaye, as she was known to her friends and relatives and Mimi to her grandchildren and others, passed from this life at her home on January 13, 2022, surrounded by her family. Gaye is survived by her husband, Larry Goodfox of the home, son, Jeff and wife Alyssa Goodfox, Stillwater, OK, daughter, Jodi Goodfox-Jones and husband Joe Jones, Pawnee, OK. Grandchildren, Kalei, Lawren (Lulu) and Nettie Maye Goodfox and Kamden, Aiden, Ian and Gavin Jones. She was so proud of her grandchildren and could be seen at any of their baseball, basketball and football games in Pawnee and dance recitals and band concerts in Stillwater.
Gaye grew up in Pawnee and graduated from Pawnee High School in 1964. She always looked forward to the high school reunions, sometimes hosting her classmates in her home. She very much enjoyed volunteering and being a booster for PHS Classes of 1987 and 1992 and she was a proud Pawnee Black Bear fan. She was outgoing and made many friends, and enjoyed going to and making new friends at the casino, where she will be missed. She also loved spending time with her mini-dachshunds, Sugar and Spice (Mice).
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Sue Hodgson.
Visitation is planned for Sunday, January 16, from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Monday, 9:00 am to 9:00 pm at Poteet Funeral Home, Pawnee, OK. Graveside services are scheduled for Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Highland Cemetery, Pawnee, OK.
In lieu of flowers, family is requesting donations to “Gaye’s Pop-up Park Fund” at the First Bank and Trust of Pawnee 601 Harrison Street Pawnee, Oklahoma 74058. Since Gaye loved her grandchildren so much, these contributions will be used to fund a bench or piece of playground equipment in her name at the new Pop-up Park in downtown Pawnee.
