Charles Sager went to be with the Lord on August 13th, 2021, at the age of 97 years and 5 months.
He was born on March 14, 1924 in Pawnee Oklahoma to Nelson and Opal Sager. He met Edith Metcalf in August 1942 in Sand Springs Oklahoma. After a brief courtship they married one month later on September 6, 1942. Charles served his country proudly in the United States Marie Corp from December 1942 to January 1946. He was in in the 2nd Marine Division and 3rd Battalion during World War II. Later he was activated from the National Guard to train combat troops for the Army during the Korean conflict. After the war he worked at the 5th & Boston Corporation in downtown Tulsa as facility engineer. Charles also worked for J C Penney and retired from Sears.
One of his greatest loves was stock car racing. He raced at Tulsa, Dewey, Muskogee, Enid and Keifer speedways. At times with is youngest son Nelson as his crew chief he raced along side his 2 older sons Phil and John. Charles and Edith enjoyed traveling all over the United States visiting various griss mills.
Charles is survived by his children: Cheryl Clark of Sand Springs, Phil and wife Marge of Kellyville, John of Chelsea Nelson and Denise Sager of Turley, Iris and Mark Reeves of Broken Arrow, Donna and Randy Cowan of California, fourteen grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife Edith, son in law Kenneth Clark, daughter in law Donna Sager, and great grandson Blake Clark.
