Charles "Bunk" Leroy Buchanan

Charles “Bunk” Leroy Buchanan passed away in his home June 17th at the age of 80. Born September 27, 1942 in Pawnee, Oklahoma to Vernon Rufus Buchanan and Fannie Ellen Brown Buchanan. Bunk graduated from Pawnee in 1960. On a hot day, June 10, 1961, he married Martha “Marty” Elizabeth Rennison in Stillwater, Oklahoma, having been together 59 years, just months shy of 60 years together. It has been told that Marty married Bunk for his saddle and he married her for her horse.

Over the years, he worked as a brick mason, working on some of the oldest and tallest buildings in Tulsa, as well as many local homes. He also worked for OG & E and then for the City of Stillwater power plant until his retirement. However, the job he loved the most was working on the farm alongside Marty.

Bunk is survived by his daughter Debbie Fulton and her husband Allen Fulton of Maramec, Oklahoma, grandson Paden Fulton and his wife Brittany Fulton of Maramec, Oklahoma, great granddaughter Millie Fulton of Maramec, Oklahoma, sister-in-law Velma Buchanan of Pawnee, Oklahoma, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death, wife Martha Buchanan, son Charles Lee Buchanan, mother and father Vernon Rufus Buchanan and Fannie Buchanan, brother Vernon “Buck” Robert Buchanan, nephew Vernon Ross Buchanan, mother-in-law and father-in-law Murrel and Aubrey Rennison, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Fred and Charlene Wheatly.
