Charlene Johnson

Charlene Kay Johnson was a twin born on May 15, 1950 in Pawnee, Oklahoma to Louis Sylvester Elston and Minerva Lucille Johnson. She spent her early childhood in Pawnee with a loving family. Her family moved to Ark City, KS where she attended high school. In 1968 she had her first child LaDonna Kay Elston, Followed by two more children. In 1969 she welcomed Edward Deon Miles and Montez Lavern Elston in 1973. In 1978 she met Kevin Johnson, whom she married she then had her fourth child Jason Lamarr Johnson. She was a very loving caring mother who loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally. She was a very hard working mother picking up several trades, to take care of her family.

Outside her love for her family, she was a true fisherwoman, cook, and football fan. Her favorite teams were the Kansas City Chiefs and Oklahoma State Cowboys "Go Pokes". She had a sweet tooth all the time and could eat one of Her Daughter Ladonna's whole peach cobblers and one of her chocolate sheet cakes. Other things she enjoyed were German Chocolate Cake, graham crackers, sweet tea and let's not forget an old-fashioned root beer. Charlene was a God-fearing woman who graced the pews of many churches. Family church, Emmanuel Church of God in Christ in Pawnee, OK. She eventually found a church home at Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Stillwater, OK where she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and was baptized.

Survivors include, daughter Montez Elston of Stillwater, OK; Son Jason Johnson wife Candace of Guthrie, OK; grandchildren Kendall, Randall, Flavea, Marlon, Malcolm, Casey, Gabe, and Aunika and Conner; great-grandchildren Kaia, Fierce, Phoster, Nevaeh, Casey James and host of nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her great-grandparents Smoke and Nola Johnson, parents Louis and Lucille Elston, daughter LaDonna Elston, sisters Bonnie, Marcia, Claudine, and Jackie, nephew Corey Smith, and niece Angela Watson.

To know Ms. Charlene aka "Char" was to love her as who she was because that's what you were going to get. She had a welcoming hand and a big heart for all she encountered, especially her grandchildren. She will be missed
