Chan Neil Ray
was born on May 28th, 1947 in Medford, Oregon to Chan Warren Ray and Betty Sue Ray. He graduated from Healdton High School and attended Central State University where he met Martha Wilson. They were married on January 21 1967. Chan’s main love was for God and because of his love of God he faithfully loved his wife for 56 years. He was a passionate educator/music director and faithfully served the Pawnee First Baptist Church for over 40 years. He passed from his earthly body on September 11th after a lengthy battle with cancer. Chan had many great loves in his life…mostly singing, he was an active member of the Singing Churchmen of Oklahoma for over 28 years. Most importantly he loved serving God for all of his life. His other love was family.
He is survived in life by his wife Martha, two sons Billy and his wife Cheri, Danny and his wife Julie, three sisters Cindy McIntosh, Desri Richardson and Polly Lavato, six grandchildren Bailey and Collin Proctor, Cassidy Ray, Danae, Aiden, and Eli Ray, and his great grandson Erik Proctor. He also had many other family and friends that he accepted into his family…he knew no strangers.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Pawnee First Baptist Church memorial fund.
