Betty Lou Young

Betty Lou Mears Young, 92, died June 15, 2016, at Southern Oaks Care Center, Pawnee, OK.   She was born December 3, 1923 at Crofts, KS, Pratt County, and the daughter of Orville and Virginia Mears.  She graduated from Hutchinson High School, Hutchinson, KS in 1941. She was preceded in death by her three children:  Gloria Lou Young Abernathy, Robert Franklin Young, and David Glenn Young and   three of her siblings:  Bernard Mears, Bernice   Mears Shore, and Mona Mears Wisby.  Survivors include two grandchildren:  Nick Young, Lafayette, CO, and Christine Purdy, Denver, CO; great-granddaughter Andeara Purdy-Hohn,   Denver, CO; sister, Erma Mears Mayfield, Hutchinson, KS and daughter-in-law Jackie Young, Pawnee, OK.  Aunt "B" will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews.  Miss Betty will be missed by her extended Pawnee   and   Southern Oaks families.  Cremation has taken place with Poteet Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Pawnee, OK and graveside services will be Tuesday, June 21, Argonia Cemetery, Argonia, KS at 7 pm with David Nungester officiating.  A  Memorial Service  honoring Betty's life will be held, Wednesday, June 22 at 10:30 am at Southern Oaks Care Center, Pawnee, OK., Senior Adult Minister Chan Ray will officiate.  Condolences may be left at www.poteetfunerlhome.com
