Beatrice Raye (Eaves) Suneagle was born January 13, 1943 in Pawnee, Oklahoma, to William Taft Eaves and Rachel Crow Chief Eaves. She was the 5th born child of 11 children, having 2 sisters and 7 brothers. Bea was a life long resident of Pawnee.
As a young girl, Bea attended Pawnee Indian Boarding School (Gravy U). She graduated high school from Chilocco Indian School in 1961. She attended Oklahoma State University for 2 years, and then Indian Meridian Vo-Tech, where she obtained a degree in business and accounting.
After college, she begin working for the Pawnee National Bank. She then worked for the Pawnee Nation, where she worked most of her life and held various positions. She recently retired in 2013, at the age of 70 years old, from the Office of the Special Trustees in Pawnee, OK.
In 1963, she married James Archie Suneagle. From that marriage came 3 wonderful daughters; Sarah Lee, Jeneen Marie and Danya Kaye.
Bea was a proud and full-blooded member of the Pawnee Nation, (Kitkehaki Band). She enjoyed attending all activities and Pawnee dances. Every year she looked forward to setting up camp and attending Pawnee Powwow which is undoubtedly her favorite part of the year. She loved spending time her family, especially during the holidays and birthdays.
In her younger years, Bea enjoyed playing softball with her daughters and was remembered as a good slow pitch pitcher. When she quit playing, she enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow and play various sports. She always held a special place in her heart for all of her grandchildren. Often in her spare time you could find Bea cleaning, tending to her plants, watching "murder" (law and order), or enjoying a good sporting event. She loved the OSU cowboys and Golden State Warriors.
Bea is preceded in death by her Parents William and Rachel Eaves, sister Rena Eaves-Williams, 4 brothers; Wilbur Eaves, Richard Eaves, William Eaves, and Jan Eaves, and daughter Danya Tiger.
Those left to honor her memory are sister, Addie Latimer of Dallas, Texas; Charley Ruling Hissun of Greeley, Colorado; Lynn Eaves of Pawnee, Oklahoma; and Glynn Eaves of Washington State. Daughters Sarah Suneagle of Pawnee, Oklahoma, jeneen Suneagle of Pawnee, Oklahoma and Rachel Arkeketa of Pawnee, Oklahoma. Grandchildren Christopher Hodson, Jamie Suneagle-George, Ericka Suneagle Shawnee, Tsakururetahkats Shawnee, Whitney Arkeketa, and Perry Joe Arkeketa. Great Grandchildren Alexi Hodson, Charlie Whiteshield, Peter Moore III, Jette Moore, Sydney Moore, Aarya Moore, Keanin Moore, Kidan Moore, Kylee Moore, Micheal Moore III, Mikyla Moore, Rylie Eagle, Juana Arkeketa, and Jaden Arkeketa. Along with numerous family and friends.
Services were held Monday 10:00 A.M. July 3, 2017 in the Pawnee Nation Roam Chief Event Center with Rev. James Eubanks and Rev. Jerry Baker officiating, internment followed in the South Indian Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Poteet Funeral Home and Cremation Services Pawnee.
