Adeline Emerald Tonemah passed from this earth into the everlasting arms of the Lord on Saturday, December 1, 2018 after a long illness. At the time of her receiving her perfect healing, she resided at Linwood Village Nursing Care in Cushing, OK. after a long struggle as a result of a stroke in 2012 and a second stroke in June of this year.
Adeline was the daughter of Raymond C. Tonemah (deceased) and Ruth Yellowcalf Tonemah (deceased). She also had one brother, Raymond C. Tonemah (deceased). She attended school and was raised in Pawnee, OK. She moved to Alameda, California in the 1970’s and made her home there until her return to Pawnee about 2008. While living in California, she attended Laney College studying nursing and became a practicing nurse holding the state of California license of Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) and worked many years in hospital and nursing care center settings. She enjoyed travels in the state of California as well occasionally trips to Oklahoma to visit family and friends. She also enjoyed shopping, visiting with her friends, and eating fry bread, meat pies, and corn soup.
Adeline is survived by close family of Ruthie Stewart and daughter, Janet Mulder, Janice Horsechief and daughter Virginia Littlesun, all of Pawnee, OK. Also surviving her is her family of James and Joyce Prim of New Mexico, Suzanne Turnbull Paulman from Colorado. Adeline has three surviving children, Keith N. Murray of California, Donna C. Grant of California, and Francis L. Grant Jr. of Cushing, OK. She also has many beloved grandchildren and other family members throughout the country.
Family preceding her passing include her father Raymond, her mother Ruth, her brother Raymond, jr., her aunt Dorothy and her aunt Roseanne.
A come and go viewing is scheduled at Poteet Funeral Home on Friday, December 7, 2018 from 4:00pm to about 7:00pm. Services are scheduled for Saturday December 8, 2018 at noon in the Poteet Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Duane Pratt officiating. Everyone is invited if they are able.
A special blessing and thank you is extended Linwood Village nursing center and the nurses, nurse aides and staff for care of Adeline during her extended illnesses. On behalf of Adeline’s family, we all say thank you and wish peace and blessings to you all.
